Saving Money on Your New York Business Trip
Saturday, July 30th, 2011Traveling for business can be a costly exercise, especially if it is a last-minute trip. There are a few things you can do to reduce the price of your next business trip to New York even if you don’t have the luxury of cashing in on advanced booking discounts.
There are several sites that help hotels book empty rooms. If you are not married to a particular hotel than you can usually find a great deal on a room that would otherwise go empty for the night. If you are flexible there is no reason to pay rack rate for a room. If you have multiple options available to you, check for a hotel that also offers a complimentary breakfast to save even more money.
Transportation is the other main area of expense on a business trip. Depending where you are traveling from, you can likely save money by taking a connecting flight. In the city itself, take advantage of New York’s public transportation if you are not on a tight time-table. Otherwise, taxis can be more affordable than renting a car in the city, especially if you factor in the premium price of parking in the area.
The key to saving money on a New York business trip is being flexible with your options and following the savings.
